TIME MARCHES ON

That Perfect Moment

The concept of time has always fascinated me.

I was in Havana a few years back and remember looking at all of the old cars driving around town.

I found myself wondering how many people had ridden in the car, where it has been and where it will go.

My wife, brother and I took a ride in one and I will always cherish the memory. It was one of those perfect moments in time for me.

The people around you create the perfect moments; every time I see an old car, I think about that moment together in Havana.

Having devoted more than four and a half decades to the live entertainment industry—as a performer, designer, director, and ultimately a producer—I've brought over 6000 live productions to life, captivating more than 8 million spectators.

Yet, in the aftermath, only memories persist; the artistry of each unique performance, once witnessed, remains unrepeatable, cherished but never to be experienced in the same way again.

With VOELEN, I wanted to create something that transcended the fleeting—something that could be held, not just in the heart or mind, but in the hands.

The inception of the VOELEN Mechanical Collection marked my pursuit of durability in creation, a defiance of transience.

I have always loved watches.

I started collecting when I was young, and the most cherished in my collection are watches with which I have a personal connection.

My wife gave me a Cartier Pasha on my 40th birthday - I always wear that watch and think of her.

I have my grandfather’s gold pocket watch from the late 1800s. I look at that watch and think of what he was doing when he checked the time on it and what was going on in the world in 1895.

The old souls of timepieces from the early 20th century all have stories, allowing aficionados like myself to ponder the era of their conception and the hands that once wound them.

Their craftsmanship speaks of an era where time was captured not digitally but in the harmonious interplay of gears and springs.
